Paquet Builder 2025.1 — Code Signing & More

With Paquet Builder 2025.1, we focused on better code signing support, some fixes, and performance refinements to make building installers more secure while keeping costs low.

New Advanced Code Signing Support

One of the standout features in this release is the enhanced code signing support. We’ve added:

• SignTool Support: You can now use Microsoft’s SignTool in addition to GSignCode for signing your package executables. Check out our help topic about SignTool.
• Azure Artifact Signing Integration: Paquet Builder now offers initial support for Azure Artifact Signing, allowing seamless cloud-based code signing. A detailed tutorial is available to guide you through this new code signing workflow.
• PFX Password Fix: Users reported issues with password-protected PFX certificates not working correctly — this has now been fully fixed.

Other Notable Improvements

While code signing enhancements are the highlight of this release, Paquet Builder 2025.1 also brings several key refinements:

• Updated UPX Compression: The integrated UPX compressor has been updated to its latest version for better compression performance.
• Removed MPRESS Support: Since UPX now supports x64, MPRESS is no longer needed and has been removed.
• Improved Progress Feedback: The UI now correctly displays “Code Signing XX…” when signing packages, improving transparency in the build process.
• New Directive Options: UIModern, TrustSignEndpoint, TrustSignCodeSigningAccountName, TrustSignCertificateProfileName, SignToolCmd
• Bug Fixes:
  • Fixed an issue where multivolume archives could fail with an unexpected error (-2147467259).
  • Resolved a bug where resource strings weren’t fully substituted in compiled packages.
  • Removed confirmation prompt in Environment Options if you don’t modify the UI theme.
  • Improved error messaging: A fatal error when no files were specified for compression has been replaced with a warning, making it easier to debug issues.
